The Atlanta Falcons have some tough decisions on the horizon where they will have to figure out which impact players they will re-sign and which impact players they won’t bring back. They are in the midst of one of those decisions right now with tight end and former number four overall pick tight end Kyle Pitts. Atlanta can either just flat out re-sign Pitts, franchise tag their tight end and then re-sign him to a different deal, have him play on the tag all season at $16 million dollars and be in the same scenario next season, or just let him leave in free agency and find his replacement.

Earlier today The Morning Shift talked about how the Falcons will have to start handing out some contract extensions soon, like to wide receiver Drake London, running back Bijan Robinson, and some of their impact players on defense as well, and they came to the conclusion that the Falcons can’t pay everyone and Kyle Pitts needs to be the odd man out.

“I don’t need to skimp the defense of paying a couple guys you’ll have up eventually that deserve it along with figuring out how to pay Bijan [Robinson] and Drake [London] because I paid a tight end that has had a season and a half in his career here essentially.” Beau Morgan said

Locking up and extending players like Bijan Robinson, Drake London, and also the core players on the Falcons defense that will need to be paid sooner rather than later too is more important than bringing back a tight end who unfortunately has had an up and down career so far at best.
