As the Atlanta Falcons have learned Michael Penix Jr. will have season ending surgery to reconstruct an ACL in his left knee, preparations for their NFC South showdown with the New Orleans Saints are underway as they look to secure their first division win and bring their current five game losing streak to an end.
On Wednesday, Falcons head coach, Raheem Morris, joined 92-9 The Game’s Carl Dukes and Mike Bell to discuss Penix Jr.’s injury and the status of the team as they look to get on track. “Coach, I’ll be damned, we’re second in sacks in the league and I it’s something I know you heard when you got the job and we talked about ‘oh, we have to get the quarterback,’ we’re getting the quarterback,” Dukes said as he asked Morris about his frustration level in regards to the Falcons 34 sacks, yet sitting at 3-7 on the season.
“It’s our time and we have to go out there and get it done,” Morris said as he explained why he believes “stats are for losers” and that while it is good for the Falcons to have their highest sack total since the 2023 since in which they finished with 42, “we need more wins and that’s the stat that matters and we have to go get it done,” Morris said acknowledging the Atlanta sack total is step in the right direction, however, “we have to have better across the board,” Morris said.
