Falcons have opportunity to right a lot of wrongs vs. Chiefs

The Atlanta Falcons got a huge win Monday night against the Philadelphia Eagles, but after a two game sample size the Falcons have two major areas they need to improve in, and earlier today The Morning Shift explained why this week against the Chiefs is the week you Falcons fans should expect to see improvement in those areas.

“I see areas that you’ve struggled in and I think that you can kind of right some wrongs. One of which is the run defense has looked kind of bad the first two weeks, right now you’re 27th in run defense, you’re giving up 161 yards a game.” Beau Morgan said.

Beau also brings up a good point in that a big reason why the Falcons have given up so many rushing yards in the first two games of the season is because they’ve faced mobile quarterbacks in Justin Fields and Jalen Hurts. Fields rushed for 57 yards by himself in the Falcons season opener, and then on Monday night Jalen Hurts accounted for 85 of the teams 186 rushing yards.

Sunday night should be easier for the Falcons run defense though as the Chiefs have officially placed their number one running back Isiah Pacheco on injured reserve, and while Patrick Mahomes is very good at buying time with his legs he doesn’t look to take off and run unless it’s absolutely necessary.

Now, the other big wrong the Falcons have a chance right Sunday night is their third down offense, and Beau explained why that should be better for the Falcons on Sunday night as well.

“You’re 30th in third down offense right now, and you’re gonna face a defense that is 21st in third down defense, so you have a chance to take two areas that you’ve been not very good in and improve on, and what i’m trying to say is you’re going to have to find a different way to win this week.” Beau said.

Those will be two big areas to watch out for if you’re a Falcons fan, and two big areas the Falcons will need to improve on if they want to win, and will have a good chance to improve on Sunday night as they look for their first home win of the season.
