The Atlanta Falcons added a pair of Pro Bowlers this week after trading for pass rusher Matthew Judon and signing Safety Justin Simmons, and now the expectation for the Falcons is to be among the NFL's contenders. For that to happen, it would require Kirk Cousins to do something in the playoffs he's never done before, win multiple playoff games.
Kirk Cousins is 1-4 in his postseason career, the lone win being a 26-20 win over the Saints in the 2019 playoffs. He's been one-and-done in the postseason on three separate occasions, during the 2012, 2015, and 2022 NFL seasons.
In Kirk Cousins' first career playoff game, in 2012 they entered as the NFC's #6 seed and lost to Green Bay, but the other times Cousins' was the higher seed and lost their opener to #6 seeds both times.
The expectation has sky-rocketed for the Falcons since adding Matthew Judon and Safety Justin Simmons, but now the question of "who will sack the quarterback" has changed to "can Kirk win in the playoffs."
