Dave Archer: Trench play 'chief reason' Falcons beat Vikings

The Atlanta Falcons’ 22-6 win over the Minnesota Vikings in Minnesota Sunday night was a great team win. Even though the Falcons played well in all three phases of the game, there were still two position groups that led the charge for the Falcons. Former Falcons quarterback Dave Archer joined The Morning Shift Monday and explained why Atlanta’s trenches were the "chief reason" the team won the game.

“Ultimately it was the offensive line bowing their back and saying uh uh this is who we are and let us show you," said Archer. "They're the chief reason, the defensive line and offensive line is the reason Atlanta won the football game.”

Having great skill position players is important, and they help you win games no doubt, but at the end of the day NFL games are still and always will be won in the trenches, and the Falcons won the battle in the trenches on both sides of the ball last night, and that’s the reason they got the win in Minnesota.
