While the majority of the debate and emotions tied into the Atlanta Falcons offseason is about what the team will decide to do about the future of Kirk Cousins, there will be plenty more impactful decisions made.
One potentially more meaningful decision could be about the future of one of the defensive leaders of the team, Grady Jarrett. The Falcons are currently more than $10 million over the cap and they could save $16 million by cutting one of the leaders of the team on the field and in the locker room, Jarrett. The alternative would be another restructure, but it may not serve the Falcons' best interest to keep pushing cap hits to future years.
The focus from fans this offseason might be about the future of Cousins, but there are going to be many more impactful decisions made by the Falcons front office this offseason than who is the backup QB. Those decisions that will impact the 2025 Falcons more than what they do with Cousins include the NFL draft, which players out of contract they decide to bring back or let go, and who they target in free agency.
