Over the weekend, multiple sports news outlets report Atlanta Falcons quarterback, Kirk Cousins, met with team owner, Arthur Blank, and expressed his desire to play for a team in which he will have an opportunity to be a starter next season. However, despite Blank taking the time to speak with Cousins, according to multiple reports, the Falcons continue to have no intent on releasing the veteran quarterback.
On Monday, Steak Shapiro shared his thoughts on the reports of the Cousins and Blank meeting and believes regardless of Cousins’ wish to be a starter next season, which would require the Falcons to release or trade him, Blank and the Falcons do not “owe it” to Cousins to grant his wish and the meeting was a “waste” of Blank’s time.
“I would say it was nice of you to take an audience with Kirk Cousins, but not necessary,” Shapiro said, explaining he believes the Falcons should not feel obligated to speak with the signal caller about his immediate future with the team. “That’s great that you want that but that means absolutely nothing,” Shapiro continued as he noted the Falcons “massive commitment” to Cousins financially in order to turn the franchise around “and he failed,” Shapiro said.
