If Mel Kiper's latest mock draft is a glimpse into the future, the Falcons will do something in the first two rounds of the 2023 NFL Draft they have never done before.
They'll draft TWO Georgia players.
In the latest Mock Draft from Kiper this morning, he's got Atlanta taking OLB Nolan Smith at Pick 8, and CB Kelee Ringo at Pick 44.
With the Smith selection, Kiper feels that Ryan Nielsen would be able to use him in a variety of ways to get to the quarterback. "Smith is an explosive player with a ton of upside, and people in the league rave about his leadership ability," Kiper said.
With Ringo, Kiper feels like there's top-10 pick potential. With all of his physical abilities, however, there's inconsistencies in coverage. "In Atlanta, he could stay local -- this means I'm projecting the Falcons to get two Georgia guys in this mock -- and compete for the No. 2 job opposite A.J. Terrell."
It will be interesting to see now if that Ringo pick is one he keeps after the Falcons traded for Detroit Lions CB, and former third pick overall, Jeffery Okudah.
