Falcons swap defensive linemen with Jacksonville

With the NFL Draft six days away, the Atlanta Falcons continue to prepare for the 2026 season and agreed to a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars which will send defensive tackle Ruke Orhorhoro to the Jaguars in exchange for defensive lineman Maason Smith, who was a member of the 2024 draft class along with Orhorhoro as both were second-round selections.

“This guy is bigger than Ruke [Orhorhoro],” 92-9 The Game’s Carl Dukes said as he and cohost, Mike Bell reacted to the reports of the Falcons’ trade and explained why he believes Atlanta may have been in search for a better defensive fit, therefore deciding to move on from their now former 35th overall pick out of Clemson.

“This could be an indicator that Jeff Ulbrich is saying ‘look, this is not working but there are guys out there that I think can work in what I want to do. Let’s try to fill the void this way versus drafting,” Dukes said. “When you make a deal like this, maybe this opens the door for them to address some of these other needs we’ve talked about,” Dukes continued as he explained why the Falcons trade may allow them to not utilize a draft pick to fill a defensive void.
