The hiring of Jeff Ulbrich by the Atlanta Falcons as their new defensive coordinator did not quell the worries of the fanbase. In fact, the hiring has raised many more questions about the direction of the franchise. The hiring has been widely viewed as safe and comfortable rather than challenging the organization by bringing in an outside here.
Ulbrich's previous ties to Raheem Morris and the Falcons organization are not being viewed as a positive on the onset. After the team's collapse, especially on defense, late in the season there has been a clamoring for someone to come in and provide a fresh set of eyes on the defense and stray from the usual collaborative process the Falcons abide by.
Of course there is a chance that Ulbrich comes in and turns around a defense that gave up 44 points to the division rival Panthers in a must-win game. But until that happens, the question of why bring in a like-minded individual with previous ties to the organization will hang around.
