Kyle Pitts is 'Gronk but with speed;' a matchup nightmare for anybody

After a long-debated process for the Falcons about whether they would draft a QB or Florida TE Kyle Pitts, we all got the answer we had been waiting for on Thursday night.

Pitts joins a loaded group of offensive skill players that (currently) include Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley, Russell Gage, Hayden Hurst, Mike Davis, and more.

Despite the presence of Julio Jones, many feel that Pitts may already be the most dangerous man in the receiving group because of the combination of size and speed to go along with being a tight end and the defensive matchups they usually draw.

John Fricke and Hugh Douglas discuss the addition of Kyle Pitts and what it could mean for various members of the Falcons offense, most notably Pitts, Ryan, and Hurst.

"As a defender, I can tell you what this could potentially be. His size alone makes him a matchup problem," says Douglas. "You talk about generational talent, highest player ever taken at that position, you just throw it to him. Who's going to catch him? Who's going to out-jump him? That's a matchup nightmare for anybody."

Hugh continued placing high expectations on Pitts when he compared him to a future Hall of Fame Tight End. "Think Gronkowski, think the size of Gronk and what he used to do to smaller guys but this cat got speed. Gronk size but with 4.4 speed."

Kyle Pitts currently has the 5th best odds to win the 2021 Rookie of the Year Award, behind the five QB's who were taken in Round 1 of the NFL Draft, but ahead of every other skill-position player.
