In his rookie year Kyle Pitts came up just 50 yards shy of what was then Mike Ditka’s rookie tight end receiving yards record, Ditka’s record was broken last season by Raiders’ tight end and former Georgia Bulldog Brock Bowers, but the point is that the 2021 fourth overall pick has shown what kind of threat he can be in the passing game.
As a running back Bijan Robinson has had at least 425 receiving yards in his first two years in the league, including 487 yards and four receiving touchdowns in 2023, and it feels like Bijan is only scratching the surface of what he can do in the passing game.
Earlier today on The Morning Shift Mike, Ali, and Beau explained why they think having Kyle and Bijan alongside each other in the passing game will “unlock” them both, and allow each of them to have even more success in the passing game.
“I think Bijan’s yardage goes hand in hand with Kyle Pitts. What is the second level doing in terms of ability to defend a tight end position and a running back position? If you can use Kyle Pitts alongside of Bijan, kind of unlock both of those guys, I think that you’ll really hit the next level offensively.” Mike Johnson said
Robinson has already proven himself to be a top five running back in the NFL, and even though Pitts has been underwhelming since his rookie season he still has all the potential in the world to be a great threat in the passing game, so if Falcons’ Offensive Coordinator Zac Robinson can find a way to get Bijan and Kyle to open things up for each other in the passing game then that will make Atlanta’s offense that much more potent.
