The window for NFL teams to place franchise tags on players is now open and the Atlanta Falcons have to make the decision on multiple pending free agents including tight end, Kyle Pitts, who is coming off his second-best season since his rookie year as he finished with 928 receiving yards and five touchdowns.
“If we franchise tag you, it doesn’t mean we can’t work out a long-term deal,” 92-9 The Game’s Carl Dukes said as he and cohost Mike Bell discussed the possibility of the Falcons placing a franchise tag on Pitts and why that would allow the franchise to work towards a larger contract after a year under the tag or Pitts having an opportunity to “make a lot of money” for the season.
“We probably spend more time talking about Pitts than we do any other Falcon and he’s shown you everything,” Bell said as he explained the Falcons’ “good, bad and ugly,” moments throughout the season is why he believes their may be pause on the decision by the Falcons.
“I don’t want to not see him in a Stefanski offense. The potential there is amazing no matter who starts the season at quarterback, but I’m still not prepared to give that gigantic signing bonus after five years that were very uneven,” Bell said.
