Former Falcons quarterback Matt Schaub joined Dukes & Bell and talked about how much Matt Ryan has left in the tank and why Arthur Smith, Mike Davis and Dean Pees could all lengthen the former MVP's career.
When asked if Matt Ryan can get back to MVP form.
“He’s never really left that form, if you look from a numbers standpoint the last couple of years, even going back to the year after the Super Bowl in ’17, you look at ’19 and ’20 he never left that form. If you look at completion percentage, touchdowns, yardage, it’s always been there, that’s never dropped off,” Schaub said. “No matter who’s been in and out of the lineup, in the huddle with him, I think he’s definitely still playing at a high level and got a bunch of years left in him. Father times is undefeated, but the way the game is, how smart Matt is and get rid of the football, and knowing the game plan inside and out, every possible outcome and scenario that can play out throughout a game he’s prepared for before it even happens.”
“You bring Arthur Smith in and Mike Davis the running back, and the power game they’re going to run coupled with the zone scheme, I think just running the football and being more balanced, I think that’s really going to help Matt take a little bit of pressure off that drop back passing game, especially on early downs. I think he’s going to play lights out, has he always has been throughout his previous thirteen seasons.”
