Earlier today The Morning Shift talked about some of the potential factors and things they’ll be watching for during the Atlanta Falcons quarterback competition between Michael Penix Jr. and Tua Tagovailoa, and one of the things they think could be a deciding factor in the QB competition is footwork, specifically if Penix Jr.’s footwork has improved.

“I’ll be focused on the footwork, like the first day of practice, or the first time we get to see Michael Penix take a drop, do a play action, is he able to kind of get his feet popping and get his feet and his shoulders turned to where he’s delivering the football.” Mike Johnson said

Last season before Penix went down with a partially torn ACL he had some issues keeping his feet alive in the pocket, and when his feet would go dead that would mess up the rest of his throwing mechanics, so that will likely be a big emphasis for the Falcons former eighth overall pick once he’s back to doing football related activities and drills.
