While the game was not perfect, the Atlanta Falcons handled their business on Sunday and beat the Dallas Cowboys, 27-21. Kirk Cousins was great, as he threw three touchdowns on the day while putting up a zero in the interception column. Running back Bijan Robinson contributed with well over 100 all-purpose yards, and the Falcons were able to hold off a late Cowboys comeback after quarterback Dak Prescott left the game with a hamstring injury.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the division, the 2-6 New Orleans Saints and 1-7 Carolina Panthers were locked in to a barnburner to determine who would wake up Monday morning in last place in the NFC South. The Panthers ended up beating the Saints 23-22 after a late score.

Not only did the Saints wake up in last place on Monday morning, but they fired head coach Dennis Allen. Darren Rizzi has been named interim head coach, and you can be assured the Saints will be playing with “new coach energy” this Sunday when they welcome the first-place Falcons into the Caesars Superdome.

Saint-Falcons is arguably the most underrated rivalry in the NFL, and if you ask any fan in the South, it’s the best rivalry, and maybe even the dirtiest.

Randy McMichael and John Fricke discuss the Falcons’ win over the Cowboys, the Saints loss, and why the Falcons cannot let their guard down in what most certainly feels like a trap game down in New Orleans.
