Should the Falcons pursue Kirk Cousins in the offseason?

The Morning Shift breaks down if the free agent QB to be would be a good fit in Atlanta

Who is the Atlanta Falcons franchise quarterback moving forward is a question that remains without an answer for the moment. Taylor Heinicke being named the starter for the Vikings game just made Desmond Ridder’s future as the Falcons future signal caller a little murky, and while Taylor Heinicke is a nice stop gap, he most likely is not the Falcons franchise quarterback moving forward either.

However, Kirk Cousins is a free agent at the end of the season, and after suffering a torn achilles last week he may have played his last game as a Viking. Would Cousins be a good fit in Atlanta? The Morning Shift gave their thoughts on it earlier today.

Considering the Falcons just had their first offseason in about a decade where they were able to be big spenders in the free agent market, Terry Fontenot and the Falcons front office might not want to invest $40 plus million dollars into a 36-year old quarterback that has probably four years left at best.

Fontenot and the Falcons might just elect to try and find their next franchise quarterback in the draft again to see if they have better luck, but if Arthur Smith, Fontenot, and the rest of the Falcons organization feel like they have a team that is just a quarterback away, maybe they will make that investment, and try to win Atlanta that illusive first Super Bowl sooner than people expect.
