Lamar Jackson was given a non-exclusive franchise tag before the deadline on Tuesday and almost immediately the Falcons announced that they are not interested in the former MVP QB and removed themselves from consideration.

Pro Football Talk's Josh Alper explains that without Lamar Jackson incoming, the Falcons have money to spare, plenty of room for improvement, but that also comes with the expectations to make impact signings.

"There's so many players for the Falcons because there's so many spots they could look to fill and they have the money to spend," says Alper. "If you're not going to go all-in on a big ticket QB, that swing for Lamar, they better show that fanbase they're willing to make other deals and build as strong a team as they can around whomever that quarterback is going to wind up being. Jessie Bates is a really good place to start."
