“Don’t be surprised when the Atlanta Falcons shock the world and make the playoffs this season," is what Adam Schein of the CBS Sports Network recently said.
The issue isn’t that Schein thinks the Falcons are going to make the playoffs, but with how much better the Falcons got through free agency and the draft this offseason. He thinks the Falcons making the playoffs this upcoming season will “shock the world.”
On Monday The Morning Shift reacted to what Schein had to say.
Mike describes Schein's words as “irritating,” and when Schein said “don’t be surprised when the Atlanta Falcons shock the world and make the playoffs this season,” Mike says “you’re hedging your own statement.”
Beau wonders why national pundits don’t give the Falcons credit for the offseason they’ve had.
“Why can’t people give credit and say, 'hey this team actually had money, they didn’t go overspend and sign all these bad deals, they signed some players that help their depth, they drafted not only best player available, but also filled some needs, and therefore they're set up to make a run at the playoffs,” Morgan asked.
Tiffany believes the lack of respect comes from lack of buzz and the uncertainty around Desmond Ridder. The bottom line is the national media hasn’t paid a lot of attention to the Falcons probably since they were last in the postseason in 2017.
If the Falcons do make it into the postseason this year it probably will come as a “shock” to a lot of people even though ones who follow the team closely are expecting a postseason berth from the Falcons
