Dean Pees retired in 2019 after two seasons as the Titans' defensive coordinator. But after taking a year off, he was dragged back onto the football field by new Atlanta head coach Arthur Smith to help build and solidify the Falcons' franchise.

After two years in the DC role and with a foundation now set, Atlanta Falcons analyst Dave Archer wouldn't be surprised to see Pees retire, and for good this time.

"They (Arthur Smith and Pees) had worked together in Tennessee and had a startup situation and needed someone to concentrate on the defense so that Arthur could concentrate on the offense," details Archer. "I think he feels this thing is going in the right direction, they got to fix some things, but he's at the point where he and his wife just want to go do stuff and not be locked in to trying to gameplan every week. He got this team going in the right direction and they have to carry on that mantle."

It's been a difficult final few weeks for Pees who had to be carted off the field pregame in Week 15 after a member of the New Orleans Saints collided with him attempting to field a wayward punt.
