Outside of one drive, the Falcons' offense didn’t find much success in the first half against the Carolina Panthers, so the defense took things into their own hands to give Atlanta a lead.
With the Panthers looking to add onto a 10-7 lead in the final minute of the second quarter, Lorenzo Carter stepped up and swung momentum clearly in favor of the home team at Mercedes Benz Stadium with a pick-six on a screen attempt from Panthers QB PJ Walker.
Electrifying the crowd in the process, Carter gave the Falcons a 14-10 lead at the half as Atlanta looks to hold onto the lead in today’s game and in the NFC South following the Bucs' loss to the Ravens on Thursday night.
This isn’t the former Bulldog’s first time in the end zone this season after he scooped up the blocked punt against the Rams as the Falcons attempted a comeback in LA.
Carter wasn’t the only Falcon to pick up his second score of the season in the first half with Kyle Pitts hauling his second TD of the 2022 season.
