Why Matt Ryan's situation differs from other QBs this offseason

The NFL could see a number of starting quarterbacks with different teams come the start of the 2021 season. One of those names include Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan.

There have been a lot of questions surrounding whether the new Falcons regime would perhaps move the veteran quarterback. Ryan, 36, will have a cap hit of $40.9 million while taking up 23 percent of the entire cap. The Falcons are currently $31 million over the projected cap in 2021.

However, despite having a very "tradeable" contract for a receiving team, Ryan's situation is different than other QBs looking to move on.

For example, the Detroit Lions and Matt Stafford have mutually agreed to part ways. Deshaun Watson has undoubtedly made it known he doesn't want to be back with the Houston Texans. And it appears Aaron Rodgers may want a bigger payday in order to remain the Green Bay Packers starter.

"I think that there's two things, though, about Matt Ryan that make him different than some of these other names," Andy Bunker said.

"He wants to be here. That makes him different than Matt Stafford and Deshaun Watson, and potentially Aaron Rodgers."

"The other thing about Matt Ryan...it's pretty reasonable to think that if you put a good line, that could protect Matt, in front of him and had a running back that he could hand the ball to and trust, that Matt Ryan would still be a top quarterback in the NFL."

Here is a list of current quarterbacks that could be on the move this offseason:
