The sixth NFL Head Coach was fired since the end of the regular season yesterday, and it was now former Tennessee Titans Head Coach Mike Vrabel. The Atlanta Falcons are obviously looking for a head coach themselves after firing Arthur Smith, and even though Mike Vrabel is a very good head coach and has had a lot of success as a head coach, The Morning Shift explained why he probably wouldn’t be a good fit as the Falcons next head man earlier today.
Mike and Beau believe that Vrabel “wants control” wherever he goes next, meaning that he wants control of personnel decisions, and after Falcons General Manager Terry Fontenot had a home run 2023 draft and brought in some great players via free agency Atlanta doesn’t seem like the place Vrabrel would be able to have said control.
Also, the obvious monkey wrench to all of this is if Vrabrel wants to bring Arthur Smith with him as his offensive coordinator wherever he goes next, and that obviously wouldn’t be an option for him with the Falcons.
However, maybe Mike would be okay with not having full control over personnel decisions and is open to being collaborative with Fontenot, maybe he’s fine with not bringing Arthur Smith with him, and if those things are true he could be a great coach for the Falcons, but that is certainly wishful thinking.
