Michael Penix Jr. won his first NFL start Sunday vs the Giants in relatively easy fashion. That almost certainly won't be the case this weekend when the team travels to Washington to take on the upstart Commanders and fellow rookie QB Jayden Daniels.
Penix was not asked to do too much vs a Giants defense that has been ravaged by injuries. He will have to use much more of his toolbox this weekend in order to keep up with a potent Commanders offense and elite playmaking ability of Daniels. Penix has all the physical traits to compete with Daniels but it remains to be seen if he will be able to diagnose a more complex defense than what New York had to offer.
The rookie signal caller finished 18-27 with 202 yards and an interception on Sunday, although the pick was not his fault as Kyle Pitts fumbled the ball after making a catch.
