The Falcons are moving towards the future and will soon be hiring a new head coach and general manager, and with those hires will come a lot of decisions for free agency, contracts, and the draft.
One of the most significant decisions they will have to make is in regards to the future of Falcons Safety Ricardo Allen.
Rico still has a year left on his current deal, but in the final year of his deal he is owed $6.25 Million. Will the new leadership of the Falcons deem that price worth it?
There is no debate or argument about how much Rico Allen means to the defense, he's routinely referred to as an on-field coach, and with the possible exit of Keanu Neal and/or Damontae Kazee in free agency, his role could be more important than ever.
Atlanta Falcons Analyst Harry Douglas, who once restructured his deal to remain with the Titans, takes a look at if Rico needs to do the same to remain with the Falcons.
"The problem they lie in with Ricardo Allen is they're going to have to restructure his deal, but the thing is he going to want to," asks Harry Douglas. "The Falcons are going to have to make a decision because they do need to draft a ballhawking safety on the back end."
