It's no secret the Atlanta Falcons' defense is struggling mightily. Coming off a 38-6 loss to the Denver Broncos the team limped into the bye week both metaphorically and literally as injuries are mounting for the team as well. If the defense cannot get the job done week in and week out, Kirk Cousins must prove his worth once again as the high-priced free agent signing he was.

Cousins is having a rollercoaster season. He has thrown for 500 yards in one game and four touchdowns in another. He also is coming into the game vs the Chargers not having thrown a touchdown pass in the previous two contests for the first time in his career. That trend needs to change instantly for the team to have any chance to get back to winning.

Even a fully healthy defensive unit has proven so far to not be able to get the job done. With no reinforcements coming down the pipeline after the trade deadline Cousins is the one who will shoulder the load to get the offense back on track.
