After feeling out how the Carolina Panthers defense wanted to attack the Atlanta Falcons offense, Falcons offensive coordinator Zac Robinson put his foot on the gas and never looked back. Once he realized the run game was clicking on all cylinders, Robinson made sure it was the focal point of the offense the rest of the day. He even got reassurance from his quarterback Kirk Cousins at halftime after Robinson asked Cousins what he liked offensively in the first half. Cousins responded “I like the run game.”
In the second half of the game you saw Robinson call some plays that really showed he was “feeling himself." The Morning Shift talked about how they liked the confidence that Robinson showed in himself yesterday.
Beau Morgan was specifically impressed with the play that resulted in a nice gain through the air after Darnell Mooney was slipped out on like a wheel route and Cousins found him wide open. Beau thinks a play like that shows that Robinson is really starting to get confident in his play calling
“I think Zac Robinson is starting to feel himself a little bit, and I like that because he’s gaining that confidence,” Beau said.
Mike Johnson feels the same way and believes Robinson has “really settled in nicely in the last couple of weeks.”
After scoring 36 points against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers almost two weeks ago, and scoring 38 points yesterday against the Panthers, the Falcons have now scored more than 35 points in a game twice in a season for the first time since 2020.
Putting together two consecutive performances like that on offense shows that Robinson’s confidence in himself is showing in the Falcons offense with more creative and sure play calls. As Robinson continues to get better and more experienced as a play caller you have to think the sky's the limit for the Falcons offense
