The Atlanta Hawks remain an average team, being within one game of .500 for 27 straight games now, and with major changes expected in the offseason, a possibly disgruntled player from one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference might welcome the chance to play alongside Trae Young.
Despite being on a legitimate contender, Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics, who grew up in Atlanta, might be disgruntled and could be looking for an exit from Boston, and the Celtics may try to trade him before he hits free agency after the 2023-2024 season.
"What do you have to give up to get him, everything but Trae," questions Randy McMichael. "People look at Jaylen as a number two, but Jaylen Brown is a bad boy himself, and he's tired of being the dangled fruit. The Hawks should be trying to get a guy like this. I don't think he would say no."
"I imagine he likes his hometown," adds Andy Bunker referring to Brown's childhood in Atlanta that saw him grow into a star at Wheeler. "You know who else is a dangled fruit, John Collins, the Hawks would have to come with more than just that, but you're going to trade John Collins this offseason most likely, maybe Dejounte, which I would do."
Certainly the Hawks wouldn't be the only team in hot pursuit of Brown, either via trade this offseason or in free agency next offseason, but they are considered high on Brown's priority list due to Atlanta being his hometown among other reasons.
