While the NBA trade deadline is just under a month away, Atlanta Hawks’ guard, Trae Young may find himself in a new uniform well before the February 5 date in which teams must complete all trades.

And while there has been no officially announcement from the Hawks in regards to a potential trade of Young, following reports on Wednesday from Shams Charania the Washington Wizards are Young’s top preferred destination, news of CJ McCollum, who has been linked to Young trade talks, listed as out for the Wizards’ Wednesday night matchup, 92-9 The Game’s Carl Dukes and Mike Bell explained why they believe Young’s time in Atlanta may be ending sooner than expected.

“When you hear guys are not playing, traditionally this is how it works most times, it’s a clue,” Dukes said as he explained why he believes McCollum missing his first game of the season due to quad soreness is typically a move teams make when they want to protect trade assets from injury.
“Basically this trade is going to happen soon,” Bell said as he agreed with Dukes’ sentiment.
