The Atlanta Hawks, now losers of eight consecutive games, have continued to flounder down the stretch of the NBA regular season. The Hawks have dropped to the ninth spot in the Eastern Conference and are now at risk of missing out on the playoffs entirely.
The Steakhouse discussed the unceremonious fall of the 2024-25 Hawks and where they can go from here. For them, the best additions at the deadline would be more about the players they would move on from.
"They lost the best kind of energy of the future, which is Jalen Johnson, not just for this year but he's been 'injury prone' now," Steak said about the state of the Hawks. "I know Bogy needs to go, I don't know if he's always this hurt or if he doesn't grit through it, but it's over. Capela around the basket... This guy's offensive skills are absolutely nowhere right now. It's freakin over for Clint Capela."
Atlanta will almost certainly make a move ahead of the looming NBA Trade Deadline this week (February 6th), but is there a way for them to get better in the process and salvage anything from this season?
"Of course, it doesn't matter this year without Jalen," Steak said. "But [overall], I don't know what they're going to do. Like Risacher is okay, he had a good game the other night in Indiana and he was drilling threes, but that's a work in progress. I don't know what they do but this season unraveled so quickly."
The Hawks have a few assets in Clint Capela, Bogdan Bogdanovic, and DeAndre Hunter, but there is not much left for the Hawks to do with this season.
