The Atlanta Hawks getting blown out by the New York Knicks last night in Game five of their first round playoff series was the result of a few different things, and earlier today The Morning Shift explained why one of those things was the poor officiating.

“It’s hard to score when you’re being mugged. It looked like a New York street out there, it was awful, and look I don’t like blaming refs for losses because I think it becomes a little bit redundant that every time you lose it’s a bad call or something, but if you allow a bigger more physical team to absolutely mug a smaller more finesse run up the court type of team you get exactly what you saw last night.” Beau Morgan said

Beau continued by saying “You’re an absolute moron if you want to tell me that you can’t blame the refs. You’re damn right I can. When one team goes to the foul line twice as much as the other team, when a Pro Basketball Hall of Famer and a legend like Reggie Miller is like ‘well you’re not going to get those foul calls’ you know that he’s literally covering for the league. It was absolutely ridiculous.”

Beau finished his thought by saying “It’s just that it was a lot of ridiculousness last night with the way that game was called, and then it leads to what you get last night, and the Hawks are to blame as well, but it has just gotten out of hand.”

The Hawks better hope they get a little bit more home cooking tomorrow night when the series comes back to Atlanta for Game six, because if the Knicks are allowed to get away with some of the screens they got away with last night, and play with the level of physicality they played with last night as well it’s going to be hard for the Hawks to win and force a Game seven.
