The Atlanta Hawks managed to break a three-game losing streak with a thrilling victory over the Brooklyn Nets at home. Trae Young, showing signs of his usual self, had a hot hand in the first quarter, sinking 6 of 7 three-pointers and leading the Hawks to a 15-point lead. Although the Nets made a comeback in the second quarter, the Hawks maintained a 10-point lead at halftime (77-67).
The second half saw a tighter contest, with the Nets closing the gap to just a four-point lead for the Hawks. However, Clint Capela's strong performance, particularly in offensive rebounding, provided Atlanta with a crucial edge. Capela secured offensive rebounds and put-backs, contributing 14 points and 15 boards. As Young's scoring cooled off, Capela's efforts kept Atlanta in the game.
The contest went into overtime after Young missed a free throw that would have secured the win. In overtime, Young regained his momentum, hitting crucial shots, including a backbreaking three-pointer, and scoring 14 points to seal the victory for the Hawks.
The Hawks will look to build on this momentum as they face the divisional rival Washington Wizards on Saturday, November 25th, in Washington D.C. with a tip-off time of 7:00 pm.
