Hawks were super smart to hire Quin Snyder before other NBA jobs came open

The Atlanta Hawks' season officially ended on April 27 when they were eliminated by the Boston Celtics in the first round of the NBA playoffs.

Including the playoffs, new coach Quin Snyder coached his team for 28 games and will use that sample size to evaluate the roster and decide which players will stay, and those that should not return.

When the Hawks hired Snyder in late February some fans and reporters were surprised the Hawks did not allow interim HC Joe Prunty to finish out the season, since he was already familiar with the roster and schemes put in place by former coach Nate McMillian.

However, with the recent firing of Mike Budenholzer in Milwaukee, and Nick Nurse in Toronto, did the Hawks land the best coach on the market well before other teams had a chance to get their hands on him?

When 92.9 the Game Hawks Insider Caleb Johnson joined Chris Thomas this weekend, Chris was quick to ask Caleb if the Hawks beat Milwaukee to Coach Quin?

“That’s a job that a lot of people will want,” replied Caleb to Chris when referring to the now open seat on the Bucks bench. "The Raptors up in Toronto, or even the Rockets (recently filled by Ime Udoke)” were mentioned as NBA coaching vacancies that Quin Snyder would have been a candidate or highly sought after option.

It may be a few days or weeks before the Bucks hire their next head coach.

Meanwhile, the Hawks are under the quality leadership of Coach Snyder, with one mission in mind.

Bringing a championship to Atlanta.
