Earlier Monday on The Morning Shift, Ali Mac, Beau Morgan, and Dylan Mathews spent time with the head basketball coach of the Houston Cougars, and former head coach of Atlanta Hawks’ first-round pick Kingston Flemings, Kelvin Sampson.
During the interview they asked Sampson how he sees Flemings’ game translating in the NBA with the Hawks, and he explained why he thinks his former point guard’s skillset will be better highlighted in the NBA.
“Kingston’s skillset will be highlighted better because of a wider lane, a 24 second shot clock, you know it just kind of breeds speed, and Kingston is a really good defensive rebounder,” Coach Sampson said.
“Pace, getting in the paint,” and his defense are also things Coach Sampson said will help the Hawks first-round pick thrive at the next level, and if the Hawks’ newest point guard can hit the ground running in the league then the Hawks will be that much more improved this season.
