Now that the Dejounte Murray deal is done, it’s time to speculate on the next deal, because there is going to be another deal.
ESPN Senior NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski believes Atlanta isn’t done making moves either. After Wojnarowski reported the Hawks trade for the Spurs’ All-Star guard, Woj then made an appearance on SportsCenter and said "Atlanta, they're not done dealing yet. They've still been engaged on John Collins [trades]. I think there's gonna be some more changes in Atlanta."
Host of the Locked on Hawks podcast, Brad Rowland, also believes more moves are coming for the Hawks, and Wednesday night on The Jon Chuckery Show featuring Chris Goforth Rowland told Chris what Hawks players he believes could be dealt next.
Rowland believes what could contain a clue into what the next move for the Hawks is whether or not Tony Ressler and Hawks ownership is willing to go into the luxury tax.
“Honestly, again the big question is whether they’re gonna pay the tax," said Rowland. "Because if they’re not going to pay the tax you kind of have a handful of players that you would look to shed those salaries. And it’s basically one of Kevin Huerter, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Clint Capela maybe, or John Collins.”
Rowland also mentioned the fact that now with Dejounte Murray joining the Hawks backcourt there is no need to have Kevin Huerter, Bogdan Bogdanovic, and Murray on the roster.
“That’s another thing about this trade is that Dejounte Murray is kind of a point guard in some ways," said Rowland. "But he’s going to be playing the 2 next to Trae Young, and what’s that mean for Kevin Huerter and Bogdan Bogdanovic, because in the long term you probably don’t need three of those guys at the same position.”
It seems like the Murray trade was just the beginning to what is going to be a very eventful offseason for the Hawks that could potentially come with a lot of roster changes. And as far as the next change goes Rowland says he has his eye closely on “Bogi [Bogdanovic], Huerter, and Collins.”
When it comes to who the Atlanta Hawks could trade next you should have your eye closely on Bogdan Bogdanovic, Kevin Huerter, and John Collins.
