Earlier today The Morning Shift reacted to the Atlanta Hawks drafting Houston Cougars guard Kingston Flemings with the number eight overall pick in the first round of the 2026 NBA Draft last night, and explained why they think Flemings will help the Hawks right away with his defense and his speed.

“Dude is an elite defender. His offense has a chance to make him literally a star in the league, but right off the bat you plug him in and he is the best defending point guard you’ve had in quite some time.” Beau Morgan said

Out of the top four point guards in this draft, Kingston was widely recognized as the best defender out of the bunch. The newest Hawk is also an athletic point guard who can finish with authority at the rim, has speed, and an improving three point shot. All of those traits are what make him the perfect fit for this Hawks team, and a great pick for Onsi Saleh and Atlanta at eight overall.
