NBA insider Colin Ward-Henninger joined Dukes & Bell to talk about the Hawks trading of Cam Reddish earlier today to the Knicks. Ward-Henninger also talked about the struggles the Hawks have had this season and how much of the blame should fall on Trae Young’s shoulders?
Ward-Henninger talked about Trae Young’s comments earlier in the season.
“I think there were some red flags in the beginning of the season, I can’t remember if it was the first game or the second game but Trae Young mentioned something about how it was hard to get up for regular season games and find the motivation,” Ward-Henninger said. “That kinda set some alarm systems off and it seems like that mentality has kinda carried throughout this season. You hear different players say, I’m not sure what’s going on, I don’t know why the effort isn’t there, it’s just something we need to find within ourselves.”
Ward-Henninger said he thinks Young gets a pass for his defensive play.
“Trae needs to set the example though because as well as he’s played offensively, there’s two things that really stand out with him that are negative, obviously his defense, he’s one of the worst defensive players in the league. He gets a pass because he’s so small and because he does so much on offense.”
