Trae Young's future in Atlanta depends on whether Hawks get No. 1 pick right
The Morning Shift explains why Trae Young’s future with the Hawks depends on what the Hawks do with the number one overall pick.
After beating the odds and winning the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s NBA draft lottery, the Atlanta Hawks are already on the clock and have a little over a month until they have to make a selection that could be a big factor on whether or not Trae Young remains here or ends playing up elsewhere.
On Monday The Morning Shift explained that who the Hawks draft with the top overall pick could decide whether or not Trae Young stays in Atlanta for the foreseeable future, or leaves in two years.
"This will define this era of this franchise," said Beau Morgan. "And if you get it wrong, in three years you’ll have a new coach, a new GM, and you’ll be looking for a new star player.”
Whether it’s drafting Alex Sarr, or trading the pick to get a player that will help the team win right away, whatever the Hawks decide to do they have to get it right or they may find themselves starting from ground zero again in a few years.
