The NBA Eastern Conference has been a race to the top ever since LeBron James joined the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference. We have seen the Milwaukee Bucks come out of the Eastern Conference and win the NBA Championship, we have seen the Boston Celtics come out of the east and lose a tough series to the Golden State Warriors, and most recently we have seen the Heat make another appearance in the NBA Finals and ultimately lose to the Denver Nuggets.

Former NBA player and Broadcaster, Shelvin Mack joined me on 2 The Max, and stated,”The east is ultimately better than it’s been in the past years. I don’t know if it’s because the teams got better or because LeBron Left.” It has been a race to the top the last couple years in the Eastern Conference. That being said, where do the Atlanta Hawks rank amongst the best teams in the east?

The Hawks reached an NBA Conference Finals against the Bucks in 2021. Since then, the Hawks have not been back. However, with the NBA Draft here and the off-season in full effect, the Hawks could be one trade away from being right in the top tier once again. Keep a close look on the player movement and trades in the Easter Conference, because most of the teams are evenly matched, and a slight improvement could be all it takes to get over the hump.
