Atlanta Hawks Rookie AJ Griffin joined Dukes & Bell fresh off of his breakout performance last night against the Milwaukee Bucks. Griffin talked about earning his playing time and which former Hawks star has helped him adjust to playing in the NBA game.
When asked about playing time as a rookie.
“I knew that coming in but I always love that principle of you gotta earn it, I’m the type of guy that doesn’t want it any other way,” Griffin said. “To be able to earn those minutes, earn that playing time, it just makes you more grateful and makes you more ready for the moment. You just gotta continue to keep striving, continue to keep pushing and persevering through all the patience and stuff.”
Griffin talked about how Kyle Korver has helped him as a rookie.
“Yeah, I always love to seek wise council, one I remember him playing when he was on the Bulls growing up and to just be able to have him in my corner and to be able to really just ask him any questions. It all comes together, it’s so helpful and ever since day one to seek that advice, seek that early because he’s been through it, he’s one of the greatest shooters. So to be able to feed off of that knowledge is huge because once you get that mindset of knowing how to and learning the little things in the NBA the sky’s the limit.”
