Trae Young will always be connected to Luka Dončić after their now infamous draft night trade. Dončić found a new home after a blockbuster trade with the Lakers while Young remains entrusted to turn the Hawks franchise around. The debate will always rage on as to who "won" the trade, but with Dončić now in Los Angeles it certainly gives Young an edge for loyalty and keeping the faith with his franchise.
Young has never publicly made a mess of any frustrations he may have with the organization or allowed anything to affect his play on the floor in similar fashion to how Dončić's conditioning is constantly in question. Young continues to battle and is having his best season yet despite the franchise being plagued by more injuries.
The Hawks have a lot of work to do to get where Dončić took the Mavericks in his time there but his commitment to the franchise is a big step in doing so. Dončić has now proven to be someone a franchise cannot count on long-term.
