After picking up a 3-2 win over DC United on Sunday, the Atlanta United find themselves sitting three points back in the standings and with just seven matches remaining, are in an almost certain win out situation in order for their post season hopes to come to fruition.

On Monday, Jon Chuckery was joined by Felipe Cardenas of the Athletic and the two discussed what level of urgency that the United may have to play with down the stretch and just how much Josef Martinez needs to be a factor in order to keep their playoff hopes alive.

“Time to be a hero,” Cardenas told Chuckery were his thoughts when Martinez entered Sunday’s match against DC United and after scoring a goal, Cardenas says that he believes fans felt that the Martinez that they saw on Sunday, is the version of the forward they been “waiting to see” and that he showed he is “still very dangerous”.

As the conversation conitued between the two, Cardenas tells Chuckery that he believes United fans may be getting “tired” of results from United outings as they have been inconsistent throughout the season and that Atlanta has to prove that are able to compete against the leagues best teams.
