When Atlanta United Center Back Miles Robinson was lost to injury for the season, so were his World Cup hopes, but another member of the team found out just this week that he'd be representing his club and his country on the world's largest stage.

On Thursday afternoon, Atlanta United Midfielder Thiago Almada received the news that he'd be joining Argentina's National Team as an injury replacement.

Almada, who won the MLS Newcomer of the Year Award after six goals and 12 assists this season, joined Argentina's senior squad for the first time in a friendly in September and immediately impressed.

Thiago Almada's role is still unknown as Argentina prepares for their first match in Qatar on Tuesday against Saudi Arabia in Group C. The two other teams in Almada's group are Mexico and Poland.

Argentina enters the 2022 World Cup among the favorites to win it all. It would be the countries 3rd World Cup Title, first since 1986, if Messi can lead them to a win in the finals.
