Both the Atlanta Braves and Atlanta United entered the season with some heavy expectations, and right now neither team is anywhere close to living up to them.
With the Hawks no longer in the NBA Playoffs and Falcons training camp still a few weeks away, Atlanta fans are stuck with just the Braves and United until August. And right now neither one is fun to watch.
The Braves came into the season with World Series hopes after an exit from the NLCS last season. But at 42-44 they need a major turnaround to find that form again.
It's not just the win-loss record that has fans perturbed, but the massive inconsistencies as well.

Every time the Braves seem to go on a three- or four-game win streak they follow that up by losing three in a row or four out of five. They can't seem to get over the .500 hump.
There's also serious issues up and down the roster that fans don't feel are going to be addressed. Is Alex Anthopoulos going to make a bold move to fix the bullpen or improve the offense?
For Atlanta United, the team may be getting a bit of a pass with Gabrielle Heinze in his first year as manager. But that doesn't make fans any less accepting of what they've seen.
United can't close out wins. They've had multiple leads, including some at home, and have only gotten a draw, and when a tie feels like a loss there is an issue.
The only seemingly good news is that football season is right around the corner and hopefully we don't get more of the same from the Falcons.
