With a little over two weeks left in the 2022 WNBA season and the Atlanta Dream competing for a playoff spot for the first time since losing the in the Eastern Conf. Finals in 2018, the team announced that G AD Durr will miss the remainder of the season due to right hip surgery
Acquired by the Dream via trade this past June, the Douglasville, GA and St. Pius X alum was drafted second overall by the NY Liberty in the 2019 WNBA Draft after back-to-back ACC Player of the Year seasons with Louisville in 2018 & 2019
This will be the second hip surgery for the 25-year-old Durr, who also has battled COVID over the past couple of years and missed the entire 2020 and 2021 campaigns due to COVID complications.
AD has averaged 10.7 points and 1.9 rebounds in 15 games since joining the team last month. They recorded three 20-point games and also led the team in scoring on four occasions.
The Dream (12-17) currently sit just a half-game out of the eighth and final playoff spot, just behind Dallas and LA, and a full game behind Phoenix for the 6th seed.
In the midst of a three-game losing streak, the Dream have an opportunity to close the gap and solidify their spot in the postseason with the next three games being played at home, with both the Wings and the Sparks on the schedule.
The Dream are pretty well stocked at the guard position, with potential WNBA Rookie of the Year Rhyne Howard leading the charge, so look for a steady rotation of Kristy Wallace, Maya Caldwell and Aari McDonald to help get this team back on track and into the postseason for the first time in four seasons.
