Last Friday night the Cambridge Bears opened region play with a tough 7-0 win over Creekview to raise their season record to 3-0. The Bears have started 3-0 once before, but it was their first win over the Grizzlies in 10 meetings.“Obviously they have had our number for 9 out of the last 10 years,”says Cambridge head coach Craig Bennett. “That was a huge win. The kids were really up for it. I just can’t say enough about our defense and the way they played through the third and fourth quarter to hold those guys scoreless.”
Region 7-AAAAAA is a tough one and this season a really good team from that region will miss the playoffs. “This region from top to bottom is a really tough region ,” says Bennett.” From Creekview to River Ridge, to Johns Creek. Sequoyah is playing well, Riverwood is playing well and they have some really good players. Centennial has struggled, but they are a better football team this year and so is Chattahoochee. One win is a nice start, but we have a long road to go before we can talk playoffs.” Cambridge has a bye this week and will host Centennial next week.
