Bradley Beal is frustrated by fans and the media's "disrespect" towards Russell Westbrook. The former NBA MVP has been at the center of a lot of the criticism for his role in the Lakers' struggles season.
However, Beal believes that the constant jabs at Westbrook on social media and TV have gone too far, calling his former teammate a sure-fire Hall of Famer.
During an appearance on The Draymond Green Show, Beal told the Warriors forward that it "pisses him off" the amount of hate Westbrook gets, calling the topic frustrating.
“That s— piss me off. I ain’t gone lie, bro,” Beal told Green. “It really — it really frustrates me, especially being a guy that played with him. The disrespect — that s— gotta stop, bro. It’s gotta stop because we acting like this man is not a Hall of Famer."
Even though Beal may have a point about the never-ending hate towards Westbrook going a bit too far at times, it would be folly to suggest that he should be clear of any criticism for his role in the Lakers' struggles season.
Westbrook has been unable to mix well with LeBron James and the rest for the Lakers squad. The nine-time All-Star is averaging a good stat line with 18.2 PPG, 7.5 boards and 7 assists, but on a poor shooting percentage (43.8% from the field and 29.4% from 3-point land).
Los Angeles currently has a 31-42 record and currently holds the last spot in the play-in tournament as the 10th seed in the Western Conference.
Despite fans and media members constantly ripping on Westbrook for his performance this season, Beal, along with other players around the NBA still seem to think highly of Westbrook.
“Russ is going to play winning basketball,” Beal said. “Russ is going to go get rebounds. Russ is going to make assists. Russ is going to take advantage of matchups he feel like he can."
“And he’s going to play 100 miles per hour. He’s going to play hard. If that’s not your cup of tea, don’t watch him.”
