A spate of ugly incidents involving bad behavior by fans continued on Wednesday night, when two females fans came to blows near a concession stand during the Reds-Braves game at Truist Park.
The two women were caught on video locked in a clinch on the beer-soaked and popcorn-littered concrete floor of a concourse during the Braves' thrilling walk-off win.
The woman on top can be seen trying to deliver a series of blows to her opponent, who is on her back and seemingly trying to lock up her foe in some kind of chokehold.
Bystanders can be seen watching and, in some cases, trying to separate the combatants. One woman emerges from the restroom and curiously appears to pause for a sad but funny videobombing.
The video ends with the woman who was on top, clad in a Freddie Freeman shirsey, later face-down and being handcuffed on the concourse by an officer who looks to be a state trooper. It's unclear whether she was arrested and charged, or merely ejected.
Unruly fan behavior has been commonplace since spectators were allowed back at sporting events in 2021.
There's been a slew of nasty brawls caught on camera, including the Phoenix Suns fan who infamously unloaded a flurry of hockey-style uppercuts on a Nuggets fan during the teams' playoff series -- all while casually predicting "Suns in 4." As well, a Sixers fan was stripped of his season tickets after he was seen dumping a full bucket of popcorn on former Wizard Russell Westbrook.
MLB seems to have seen a surge in field crashers and streakers, as well as brawls in the stands. In May, a Padres fan knocked out a Rockies fan with one vicious punch.
In golf, an apparently disturbed spectator strolled into the tee box and removed a club from the bag of star Rory McIlroy at the Scottish Open. The PGA also apologized about lax security at the US Open at Kiawah, where a mob of fans overwhelmed guards to celebrate Phil Mickelson's victory.
