The NFL MVP race is heating up as we enter the last few weeks of the season. Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and San Francisco quarterback Brock Purdy are neck-and-neck in terms of the betting odds right now after impressive showings last week.

NFL Insider Brian Baldinger of the Audacy original podcast “In The Huddle” gave his thoughts on the MVP race as we enter Week 15 of the NFL season.

“I think it’s between Dak and Purdy right now,” Baldinger said (32:20 in player above). “I’d probably say Dak. He’s doing it in primetime. He just did it against Philadelphia.”

Prescott threw for 271 yards and two touchdowns on 24 of 39 passing against the Eagles on Sunday night. He’s now thrown for 28 touchdowns and just six interceptions – three of which came against the 49ers – on the season.

Since that pitiful performance in San Francisco, though, Prescott has thrown for nearly 2,500 yards (305 per game) with 23 touchdowns and two interceptions while leading the Cowboys to a 7-1 record in that stretch.

“But Purdy is right on his tail,” Baldinger continued. “He was again just sensational against Seattle.”

Purdy has gone from last year’s Mr. Irrelevant to a legitimate MVP candidate this season. He opened at 25/1 to win the MVP and is now at 2/1 or lower.

He’s showing that he’s more than just a game manager, especially over the last five weeks. Purdy has thrown for 1,520 yards (304 per game) with 13 touchdowns and two interceptions in that span.

Both the 49ers and Cowboys sit at 10-3 with Dallas (at Buffalo, at Miami, vs. Detroit, at Washington) having a bit of a tougher final four games than San Francisco (at Arizona, vs. Baltimore, at Washington, vs. Los Angeles Rams).
