On Thursday, the Cambridge Bears and Blessed Trinity Titans boys lacrosse teams went head to head with the rights to claim first place in the area standings on the line and momentum seemingly in favor of the Titans as they entered the contest with a six game win streak.

And while the Bears have had somewhat of an up and down season to this point, they would pick up their second straight win, defeating the Titans 10-8 to secure the number one seed out of the area ahead of the playoffs which begin at the end of this month.

"BT is a great team and we have nothing but respect for them and their staff," Cambridge's Coach Mac Pons said after their win over Blessed Trinity, praising the Titans for how well they played on Thursday and throughout the season to this point.

"We were just trying to do our best to contain them," Pons added, explaining  the importance of the Bears needing to ensure they took "good shots" when they had possession of the ball, crediting Titans' goalie, Gavin Holwill for his "fantastic" defense in net.

"Our guys really bought into what we're trying to do and just possess the ball and work for good shots instead of taking the first shot," Pons said of the Bears game plan heading into Thursday's showdown. Cambridge was led by Patrick Bojcic with five goals.
